Opening Ceremony: New Centre for Buddhist Spiritual Care, Counselling
Join Emmanuel College for the opening ceremony of the Tung Lin Kok Yuen, Canada Society Research & Education Centre for Buddhist Spiritual Care and Counselling (TLKYCS Centre), a new centre dedicated to advancing Buddhist spiritual care, counselling, psychospiritual studies and chaplaincy education through academic scholarship, professional formation, interfaith dialogue and community engagement.

Overview:
On behalf of Principal HyeRan Kim-Cragg of Emmanuel College, we invite you to celebrate the official launch of the TLKYCS Centre. This special occasion marks the beginning of a new chapter in Buddhist spiritual care and counselling education, creating opportunities for research, professional development and collaboration across Buddhist, interfaith and multifaith communities.
The ceremony will include a plaque unveiling, a special guest lecture exploring the Forty-Nine Day Ritual (Sasipgujae), a Korean Buddhist postmortem rite featuring beompae, a Korean Buddhist chant, and a tour of Victoria University’s Indigenous Healing Garden.
