Conclusion of Term for Principal Michelle Voss Roberts
Victoria University announces the conclusion of Michelle Voss Roberts’ term in the role of principal of Emmanuel College on June 30, 2021. After her outstanding leadership and exceptional contributions as principal, Voss Roberts will continue at Emmanuel College as a full-time professor of theology.
Voss Roberts joined the College in July 2018 and she has worked tirelessly to strengthen academic programs, overseeing a major renewal of Emmanuel College’s faculty and consolidating its interreligious programming. This renewal has resulted in the most diverse faculty in Emmanuel’s history as well as an expansion of the College’s capacities for online learning, supervised pastoral education, and responses to the calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Under her leadership the profile of the College has continued to grow, through the fostering of strong relationships with multiple religious communities, and through the revamping of important initiatives for community outreach. Voss Roberts has been exceptionally dedicated to the success of Emmanuel’s students, especially in the realms of spiritual life and financial support.
Professor Voss Roberts’s commitment to building an inclusive community and to making the campus a welcoming space for students and staff is exemplary. Her careful attentiveness, her strategic vision, and her dedication to theological education are widely recognized and deeply appreciated across Emmanuel College, the Toronto School of Theology and Victoria University. The College will long benefit from the contributions she has made as principal, and in the coming years will continue to benefit from her talents as a professor.
