The Rev. Dr. HyeRan Kim-Cragg Installed as Emmanuel College Principal
The Rev. Dr. HyeRan Kim-Cragg was installed as the 14th principal of Emmanuel College on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, in a ceremony that included multi-faith theological leaders and members of the academic community. A highlight of the ceremony included an original musical composition created and performed by Emmanuel faculty member Tom Reynolds and musical performances by the Emmanuel College Master of Sacred Music students and alumni, Korean Graduate Students at Toronto School of Theology Chorus and the Hanshin University Alumni Chorus. As the first Asian person to lead a Canadian theological school, and first racialized person to lead a Victoria University college, Kim-Cragg was lauded for her deep empathy and wisdom.
“I believe that HyeRan’s style of theological teaching and learning, will contribute to our collective, healing journey,” said President Rhonda McEwen.
“I look forward to leading Emmanuel College with a focus on Dignity, Equity, Accountability and Responsibility. The College has a reputation for academic rigour and for offering a ground-breaking multi-religious theological education. It is an honour for me to build upon this well-rounded experience of inclusivity and social justice in theological education.” Read more about Principal Kim-Cragg.
