Victoria University Holiday Hours

Victoria University will be closed from 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, until the start of the working day on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025. All buildings will be locked and closed during this period. 

During the closure, visitors to our campus, including staff, faculty, and librarians, along with students staying in residence, will experience:

• Garbage and Recycling: The last garbage pick-up will be on Dec. 24. Regular garbage and recycling services will resume on Jan. 6. 
• Print Shop and Campus Mail Services: Both services will be closed during the holiday period. 
• Snow Removal Services: Snow removal will continue as needed throughout the holiday closure. 
• Facilities Maintenance: Maintenance staff will periodically check on facilities infrastructure during the closure. 
• Housekeeping: A reduced housekeeping staff will be available to support students in residences. 

For staff, faculty, and librarians accessing campus during the closure, here’s what to know:

Before You Arrive 

For safety reasons, please inform security when you’ll be on campus. You can call them at 416-585-4524 either when you arrive or ahead of time. They’ll need the following details: 

• Your name and title 
• Your department 
• Your building and office number 
• Your expected length of stay 
• Whether hallway lights are needed 
• The number of people in your group 
• If you’ll be moving items in or out of your workspace 
• Whether your vehicle is parked outside the building

While You’re Here 

• Enter through the designated entrance and ensure the door locks behind you (some doors may take a moment to latch). If the door doesn’t lock properly, contact security. 
• If your fob/swipe card isn’t working, security can assist, but they’ll need to verify your ID.

When You Leave 

• Double-check that windows are locked, curtains are closed, office lights are off and any valuables are secured. 
• Exit through the designated door and physically check it’s locked. If there’s an issue, call security.

Parking 

Please note that the Residence Services desk is staffed during the holiday closure to support students in residence but will provide reduced services. If you need parking, please organize your parking passes before the closure. Ensure your vehicle is parked in a designated space and locked. 

While campus services will be limited, security will be on-site to assist with any concerns. 

Regular services will resume on January 6, 2025.
